    Testing 1…2…3

    Ok. So in keeping with the intent I lay before you the pictures your poetry reading made in my mind (while it is still fresh since I have just finished watching/reading it);

    First of all you are on stage (fully clothed). It looks like a comedy club, but you are introducing yourself as a poet, so I am guessing it is a poetry club. Nobody is laughing either which is another big clue. The place is dimly lit but you are spotlighted and you are not looking at me even though I keep trying to catch your eye. Perhaps the light is in your eyes. You were sitting hunched on a rather uncomfortable bar stool, but take the opportunity to stretch your back by getting up and walking (with the mike) out of the room. However we can still hear you through the speakers as if you had not moved. You are introducing the poem ‘Loosey’.

    I had not noticed before, but there is a screen at the back of the stage. As you continue to speak it lights up with a black and white grainy film of two schoolgirls holding hands looking at the camera. They are both smiling and blinking in the sunlight. The room which had the usual conversational buzz of a bar or cafe, becomes eerily silent.

    Someone in the audience laughs softly behind me at this point and when I turn round to look, I find I am alone in the room. All I hear is the sound of the projector and your inanimate voice continuing with your monologue. I wonder where you went. I am starting to feel you are incredibly sad about something, and I feel it is in contrast to the picture on the screen. I turn back to find the film is burning away from the heat of the projector bulb and the brightness of the screen hurts my eyes.

    The Projector bulb pops audibly and the lights go out and I find myself in velvet blackness. I sense but not hear you step up to me and then you whisper in my ear so close I can feel your breath.You are signing off your reading…. Missy Jubilee. Who else did you think you were?

    Suddenly the projector starts again and I realise I am now in a cinema (how did that happen?) watching a film I have never seen (requiem for a dream? I have it but have never watched it, so maybe…) The score sounds really loud compared to the recent silence. And snap. Back to reality.

    And you thought you were twisted.

    I look forward to reading the imaginary films of others. I enjoyed mine very much. Ta.
