A 70-year-old Australia man was hospitalized after inserting a fork into his penis for “sexual gratification.”
A 4-inch steel dining fork had been self-inserted into his urethra 12 hours before he entered the hospital, according to a study published in the International Journal of Surgery Case Reports. The fork was not visible to the naked eye outside the penis.
With the patient under general anesthesia, doctors at Canberra Hospital’s Emergency Department were able to extract the fork, and the man “voided well and went home post-procedure.”
According to the study, other objects that have been known to be inserted into the human body over the years include needles, pencils, toothbrushes, batteries, light bulbs, marbles, thermometers, plants and vegetables.
“With the infrequency in which a fork is encountered, there lacks sufficient information to evaluate and compare varying treatment modalities,” the study reads.
